From Saturday 25th October to Sunday 2nd November the Newquay BID has teamed up with businesses in the town centre to ensure that there is something to keep you busy every day throughout the October half term.

The aim of Love Newquay Week is to introduce residents and visitors to businesses that they may have not ventured to before or to help existing businesses reward customers for their loyalty and ongoing support. The week will be jam packed with FREE workshops, entertainment and Halloween festivities.

Starting on October 25th and continuing through to November 2nd the week will be kicked off with a spooky bat trail. The bats, created by a group of children at Trenance Learning Academy, will be hidden in different shops within the town center. Clue sheets can be collected from Newquay’s Tourist Information Centre between 10am on Saturday 25th October and returned before 3pm on Sunday 2nd November in order to claim a tasty treat. All clue sheets returned will also be entered into a prize draw to win a grand prize that will be announced at the end of the week.

There will be FREE workshops throughout the week with live music at Whiskers Wine Bar, close encounters with the an exotic creature from Newquay Zoo at the Esplanade Hotel, Disco Beads work shop where all participates will be able to take away their own free bracelet, Pirate work shop at Captain Jack’s, Pavlova making at Bush Pepper and craft workshop at the Blue Reef Aquarium.

Newquay BID is sponsoring two £1 ticket screenings at the Lighthouse Cinema, one for families and one for adults on Saturday 1st November. The films will be announced in the papers next week so keep an eye out for more information!

Alice Beard, Newquay BID Marketing and Events Coordinator said: “Love Newquay Week has grown from our Indies Day that took place in September last year and I am so happy that we have been able to develop the event into a week full of activities that all of the community in Newquay can get involved in. The main event of the week will be the Newquay BID’s Zombie Crawl on Friday 31st October which promises to be a spook-tacular event and there will be two exciting opportunities to meet none other than Titan the Robot.”

On Friday 29th November the wintry skies around Newquay Cornwall will be lit up by a riot of colour from a magical lantern parade; the official ‘switch on’ of the town’s Christmas lights; and a glittering fireworks display over the harbour. Which is only minutes away from our self catering accommodation the Square and Tall House.

Over one hundred amazing creations and their makers will be setting off from Narrowcliff at 7pm for the parade to light up the skies, accompanied by a music from the Indian Queens Town Band and a local Samba Band. They will journey along Cliff Road and East Street where they will be joined by none other than Father Christmas and his real-life reindeer who will be entertaining children at the Hotel Victoria from 3pm to 6.30pm.

Joined by the town’s Mayor, the lantern parade will light up Bank Street & Fore Street, before reaching the bottom of Marcus Hill. Here the town’s Christmas lights will officially be switched on at 7.30pm to the sounds of glorious carol singing. The evening’s celebrations will then culminate with a festive fireworks display over the harbour at 8.45pm.

Very impressed, we all love this house, its like home from home. Everything was great e.g Appliances, location and weather. We have all really enjoyed our stay. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your lovely home and greeting us with the fab cupcakes. We will definitely recommend it to other family members and friends. When we are thinking of coming again we will definitely be in contact. We have friends who live in Newquay and normally stay with them but in our large group of 7 of us, it has been perfect. Sorry we did not meet you, maybe next year. Thanks again!!

Just over a week away.

The stars have aligned and the guys at Beach Break Live are creating something that hasn’t been seen or heard before. They are transforming Newquay into a 100-hour beach town fiesta like nothing before.

The Kingdom of Cornwall has lent us the most picturesque party town on the planet. Together with the UK’s premier artists, curators and mischief makers, they are presenting over 300 acts in many unique venues, from the Fistral Beach Main Stage, feverish DJ’s in epic clubs, breaking bands in y’olde pubs. Music & madness shall fill the beaches, the streets, the harbour, kebab shops and every other conceivable crevice.

Beach Break’s about more than just the tunes. Now we can take this up a gear with beach disco’s, surf, street art, comedy, more extreme sports than you can shake a stick at and tomfoolery galore.

Also we still have availability in The Tall House for that weekend, so if you looking for accommodation in Newquay get in touch we can do you a great deal on one of the best self catering holiday houses in Newquay.
